He studied Agriculture in Munich and has spent his entire professional career at Südzucker AG, which he joined in 1992. Südzucker operates across four business units — Sugar, Ethanol, Pizza, and Specialties — with his work consistently focused within the Sugar business unit. From 1992 to 1997, he worked in Mannheim as Key Account Manager for the international food industry, before moving to Brussels in 1998, where he served as Head of Exports, overseeing sugar exports from the EU to third countries until 2006.

From 2007 to 2022, he was based in Mannheim as Head of Supply Chain Management, responsible for planning, logistics, and back-office operations for 15 sugar factories across Germany, Belgium, France, and Poland, serving clients both within and outside the EU. Since 2023, he has continued in Mannheim as Senior Project Manager, leading sugar-related projects with a strong focus on sustainability and biomethane, including production, internal use, and product carbon footprint initiatives.
