
Sven Weidner
As a certified Project Director and Head of CCUS at Holcim Germany, Sven is a leading expert in industrial decarbonization and large-scale project management. His expertise lies in the planning and execution of complex projects, the development of CCUS value chains, and the effective management of stakeholders and financing. With his experience in bridging the gap between strategic vision and operational execution, he is an expert in making green transformations technically feasible and economically viable in the long term.
Sven developed and implemented the Net-Zero strategiy for Holcim Germany and build up the CCUS Team. He also led the landmark 'Carbon2Business' (C2B) project in Lägerdorf, one of the world's first carbon-neutral cement plants, which will capture 1.2 million tons of CO2 annually. He was instrumental in securing €109.8 million from the EU Innovation Fund for this project.
He also established a comprehensive CCU sales strategy for captured CO2, advanced the development of the central CO2 hub in Brunsbüttel, and initiated pipeline networks. In this context, he worked on the Westküste 100 value chain, which connects sectors (sector coupling) to establish a comprehensive Power-to-X (PtX) and hydrogen ecosystem.
