Dr. Holger Klaassen is Director of Corporate Energy & Climate Affairs at Aurubis AG, a leading European copper producer and multimetal company. He oversees group-wide energy procurement—including electricity, gas, industrial gases, and hydrogen—as well as CO₂ management and emissions trading.

Prior to joining Aurubis, he led the hydrogen economy division at the Ministry of Economy and Innovation in Hamburg and held several senior positions in energy, climate, and innovation policy, including at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Dr. Klaassen brings extensive expertise in regulatory frameworks, strategic project management, and cross-sector collaboration at national and EU levels. With a PhD in law and professional training in project management, he bridges the gap between business, policy, and technology in the transition toward a sustainable energy future.
