Bart Vogelzang
Bart Vogelzang is a senior strategic consultant in the sustainable sases team at the Dutch energy grid operator Alliander. He chairs the hydrogen working group of Gas Distributors 4 Sustainability (GD4S), a Brussels-based advocacy association representing progressive gas distribution system operators across Europe.
Bart holds an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and studied Business Administration. With nearly 30 years of experience in research, development and policymaking in the natural gas sector, he now focuses on the strategic role of sustainable gases in the future energy system.
Within Alliander, Bart led asset procurement for more than a decade, ensuring that all acquired materials were certified for natural gas, biomethane and hydrogen. He was one of the initiators of the first project in the Netherlands to heat residential homes with 100% hydrogen, located in his hometown of Lochem. In this project, he oversaw safety aspects, managed relations with safety regulators and guided key technical decisions.
Bart also chairs the steering committee of the KIWA Gastec QA certification scheme for components in the natural gas and hydrogen market, and he serves on the steering committee of Ready4H2, a European initiative that promotes knowledge sharing among DSOs and advances their role in the hydrogen sector.
