HEXANA

HEXANA is a European company developing an innovative, ultra-low carbon energy platform, featuring two Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs) that utilizes Sodium-cooled Fast-neutron technology, integrated with a thermal energy storage system.

HEXANA aims to address three major energy challenges by: 1 - decarbonizing hard-to-abate industries such as chemicals, petrochemicals, cement and steel through the cogeneration of electricity and high-temperature heat (up to 465°C), 2- enabling flexible energy delivery thanks to an integrated thermal energy storage system that helps manage variability and price volatility without compromising economic performance, and 3 - strengthening European energy security in the face of geopolitical uncertainty by relying on reprocessed spent nuclear fuel, thereby using local resources and reducing nuclear waste.

HEXANA has chosen a unique, customer-driven approach focused on delivering on-time solutions that directly address the needs of industrial customers. This strategy builds on the choice of a well-proven Generation IV technology - Sodium-cooled Fast Reactors (SFRs) - with more than 400 cumulative reactor-years of operational experience worldwide, including 120 in Europe, thereby minimizing innovation risk; on early partnerships with industrial end-users to ensure close alignment with industrial processes and operational realities, and on a clearly defined position within the value chain.
